About Me

DEB GURUNG

COUNCILLOR FOR LIVERPOOL CITY COUNCIL-SOUTH WARD

Dear Residents,

My name is Deb Gurung. I am a proud Liverpool local, a father of three adult children, and your local candidate representing Community Voice Australia in the Liverpool City Council South Ward by election on 18 April 2026.

I served in the military for over 30 years, including in the British Army and the Australian Defence Force. Through that service, I learnt the value of discipline, integrity, and putting people first values which I will bring to council. I am standing for election because our community deserves better. We need strong, honest leadership that prioritises residents not politics. Yet time and again, we see scandal, poor decisions, and a lack of accountability. Enough is enough. Liverpool is my home. I have lived here for many years, and my children were educated locally in Holsworthy and Casula. I care deeply about this city, its people, and its future. Liverpool has incredible potential to be one of the best cities in Australia. I have seen firsthand the needs of our schools, hospitals, parks, sporting facilities, businesses, and families. These are not just policies they are everyday realities for our community

My name is Deb Gurung. I am a proud Liverpool local, a father of three adult children, and your independent candidate representing Community Voice Australia for the upcoming Liverpool City Council South Ward by-election on 18 April 2026.

I am a former digger and served in the military for over 30 years. I am standing for election because I believe our community deserves better.

We need positive change, strong representation, and leadership that genuinely puts people first. Our priority should always be the community and the residents we represent, yet time and again we continue to see one scandal after another. Enough is enough.

Liverpool is my home. I have lived here for many years, and my children were educated locally at schools in Holsworthy and Casula. I care deeply about this city, its people, and its future.

Liverpool deserves to be one of the best cities in Australia. I have closely observed the needs of our local schools, hospitals, sporting and recreational facilities, parks, environment, local businesses, job seekers, and the future development of Liverpool. These are not just policy issues to me, they are part of everyday life for the people in our community.

With over 30 years of military service in the British Army and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and extensive  volunteer work in the community, Deb Gurung is a true social activist. During his military career, he served worldwide and learnt of the beauty and struggles of the world, which drives his passion to help those in need. Since retiring from the ADF in 2016 he has served on the executive board of  directors in several not-for-profit organisations and has dedicated himself to full-time volunteer work, listening to the needs of the people and striving to better the community. Deb is deeply rooted in the Liverpool community, having lived here for over 17 years and is  astutely aware of the struggles and improvements of the people. While he has always advocated for the community, by engaging all level of political representatives he is now seeking the opportunity to give back to the community as a Mayor/Councillor. Join him in his mission to advocate for positive changes that matter to you. Together we can make Liverpool one of the best cities in Australia.
